Marketing & Press

While Fringe will market the festival as a whole, you want people to see your particular show, so make sure you set aside time and resources to market and promote your own production! We encourage shows to think as independent producers: distribute flyers, hang up posters, get the word out via social media, and do your best to convince people why your show is THE ONE to see!

Branding Guidelines

Please download these branding guidelines.

These are meant to aid you with any advertising that you’ll be doing for your show.  Note: these also include approved language on ticketing.

Fringe Logo

Include our logo on all your posters, graphics, and marketing materials to show off that you’re part of the Fringe! Keep the white outline around the logo so it stays extra legible, and read the quick branding document for colors, instructions, and more info.

(CMYK files are for printed materials, RGB are for screen (web, video). If you’re not sure which file to choose, we recommend the PNG file as a versatile, easy-to-use option, regardless of what you’re making.)

Market Your Show

The Fringe marketing and PR team encourages every show to strive for creative, exciting marketing that helps audiences find their show. Reserve some money in your budget for marketing your show. You may choose to:

  • Old school (still) works. Print flyers, postcards, posters, stickers and DISTRIBUTE - but in a safe manner. Consider asking logo like-minded businesses to hang a poster in their space.
  • Partner with or hire a local photographer or videographer for a professional photoshoot or video shoot so that you can utilize that content to market your show (plus, you can use that professional image in the festival guide). Consider students from our local higher education partners who are majoring in these fields and are looking for experience.
  • Go social! Promote your show across all social media platforms & use keywords in your caption to reach the audience who might be interested in seeing your show.
  • Video is key for 2026! Use vertical video to promote your show on social media to reach your audience.
  • Put a budget behind promoting your posts or placing an ad on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.
  • Create a Facebook event for your show and invite all of your friends and followers.
  • TELL YOUR STORY. After all, this is performance! People love to engage with storytelling, especially online.

2026 Social Media Tips & Tricks from our team can be found here. Your marketing can easily be creative and low-cost or free.

We will have two webinars to help you with building your listing details and marketing your show for the world to see! Stay tuned to our Info Session page for when these will occur.

Sample News Release

You can begin to send press releases out on July 14th, after the official Fringe press conference. Some shows may opt to wait to avoid the busyness of the day. We recommend you do distribute your release within the first week of the festival line up announcement.

Important: For those shows interested in review opportunities with local media, such as CITY, you will want to send news ASAP to give their team time to make those decisions for the limited spots available.

Advertise in the Official Rochester Fringe Festival Guide

CITY will again publish our wonderful Official Fringe Guide.  To see prior years’ guides, click here. Ad sales for this year’s guide are live, click here for more info!

Web Ads on the Fringe Website

While all registered shows have a listing on the website, button ads may be purchased to provide additional, prominent placement.  Be aware that you must have your show registered to purchase a button ad. Button ads will start running on July 16 and run through the end of the festival. Button ads will be on sale by Feb 18! Click the link here to learn more information on what booking a Website Ad would cover. If you are ready to reserve an ad, click the link here to start filling out your reservation form!
